Action Center

The challenge to meet workforce demands continue to grow in West Virginia. As the state with the lowest workforce participation rate in the country, West Virginia must act now to increase education and training opportunities for our state’s citizens. Manufacturing is changing and the need for highly skilled, well-trained workers increases daily.

I urge your support of SB 1, the Last Dollar In, allowing West Virginians the opportunity to obtain post-secondary education and credentials, and growing the foundation of our economy by putting West Virginians back to work in well-paying jobs like those in the manufacturing industry. Community and Technical Colleges are nimble, and well positioned to meet the workforce demands of today and the changing demands of tomorrow.

West Virginia manufacturers – the state’s job creators – urge you to put SB 1 on the Finance Committee Agenda as soon as possible and support this much needed access to technical education and training.

Call to Action: West Virginia manufacturing jobs and future investment are in jeopardy because of the proposed adoption of Obama-era water quality standards from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. The West Virginia Manufacturers Association and AssembleWV need your help in speaking out for the good industry and doing what’s most protective for West Virginians!
